So I got my Thane to 39 and am now trying to figure out his template. So far I'm 22 points over on max Dexterity, and have near-maxed out Sword, Shield, and Stormcalling, and very marginal resists.

It's looking to me like I won't be able to max everything out, so my question is, should I focus on stats, resists, or +skill? If I can find a few trinkets with less +dex, I figure I can get somewhat closer to where everything is maxed out.

EDIT: Since it looks like I won't be able to max out all resists, which ones are the most important?

You can gimp matter, and the ones you get +5% to from racial traits.

Molvik resists are capped at 21 I think, so if you can get 18+ on most or all of them I think you will be fine.

The only skills that I max purposely are Stealth and Evenom, but that wont help you with a Thane. You already have lots to go for, STR, CON, QUICK, RESISTS, HITS, SKILLS. Thats the order I would go for, if it were me.

Post what stuff you have and let us play around with a temp.

I made this template before really understanding a few things:

1. at level 39, max resist is 20 (so there's some extra points there I can redistribute)
1. at level 39, max +skill is 8 (so there's a few more extra points)

That said, I think I can get close where I need to be, but just wanted to get more input since I know so little about this sort of stuff

Well the way I see it is as follows:  

If you put aurulite gear in every trinket slot other than cloak, you get the following:  

+2 to ALL Magic Skills
+2 to ALL Melee Weapon Skills
+10% Power Pool

+31 Piety  
+56 Dexterity
+18 Quickness
+47 Strength
+46 Constitution
+116 Hits

+8 Bonus to Piety Cap
+8 Bonus to DEX Cap
+8 Bonus to STR Cap  
+4 Bonus to CON Cap  

So if you spell-craft a set of level 40 Chain as follows:  

Chest:
+16 Constitution
+7% Cold Resist
+7% Heat Resist
+7% Energy Resist

Arms:
+16 Strength
+9% Body Resist
+9% Matter Resist

Legs:
+16 Piety
+7% Crush Resist
+7% Slash Resist
+7% Thrust Resist

Head:
+16 Piety
+9% Body Resist
+9% Matter Resist

Hands:
+16 Dexterity
+7% Cold Resist
+7 Heat Resist
+7 Energy Resist

Feet:
+44 Hits
+7 Crush Resist
+7 Slash Resist
+7 Thrust Resist


That would give you this:  

+2 to ALL Magic Skills
+2 to ALL Melee Weapon Skills
+10% Power Pool

+63 Piety  (4 under maximum)
+72 Dexterity  (5 over maximum)
+18 Quickness      
+63 Strength  (4 under maximum)
+62 Constitution  (1 under maximum)
+160 Hits  (no idea where this relates to cap or maximum)  

21% Cold Resist
21% Heat Resist
21% Energy Resist
18% Body Resist
18% Matter Resist
0% Spirit Resist
21% Crush Resist
21% Slash Resist
21% Thrust Resist



That still leaves you the cloak slot (probably want to get your class quest lvl 37 cloak), weapon slot and shield slot.  
That's a pretty sexy template.  No reactives on the armor, but do you really need them?

looks good. COuple things I think I think:

1. reactives, such as melee health buffers, do not count against what can be Sc'd

2. Isn't Quickness soley responsible for attack speed? if so I would think it should be maxed out. I think I'd gladly sacrifice a couple resist to up the quickness.

Hits is level x 4 (156 for level 39)

Keep in mind that the aurulite items are taken from what is on my Valk.  If you change-out a couple of pieces, you can get more Quickness (at the cost of other stats).  

For example, I think there are 3 different rings.  There are two different gems.  So you can switch it up to change stats a bit.

Depending on what you've done...

I'd also consider crafting higher level armor.

At 39 ... L50 Armor is RED
        ... L45 Armor is OJ

I usually shoot for L45 in Molvik.  If you plan on keeping your Thane in Molvik for a long while... I'd consider L50 Dragonsworn/Rune Armor to get some of the 5th slot bonuses.

Also, there are some Artifacts you can get for Molvik that might be worth looking into.

I currently plan to keep my thane there permenently. A set of level 40 was crafted for me (Thanks Schwack!), mostly because I'm worried about the degradation of higher level armor. Is it silly to worry about that? If so, I can give the newly crafted stuff to someone else and go get me some level 50 stuff.
